Singles: Constellation Myths – Shadows On The Wall & Spare Room

Constellation Myths is a trio comprised of guitarist and bassist Josh Goldman, drummer and keyboardist Justin Kehoe, and vocalist Molly Seamans. Born in 2019 out of the ashes of an assortment of Boston-area indie bands, Constellation Myths is based on the musical partnership of Goldman and Kehoe and the lyric-writing partnership of Kehoe and Seamans.

The new single from the band – Shadows On The Wall – is an eerie, atmospheric piece that seems to flit between somewhat sombre and slightly celebratory. Like Nick Cave collaborating with Jim O’Rourke and Ryan Adams on an Explosions In The Sky song, it is a sonic odyssey made up of traditional Americana tones and textures (with lap steel contributed by Andy Arch) with ambitious, epic arrangements.

The previously released track – Spare Room – conjures immediate nostalgic images of the now sadly dearly departed Mimi Parker of slowcore legends Low. The country-influenced instrumentation reminds us of Gillian Welch’s, I’m Wide Awake-era Bright Eyes and peak (but placid, as opposed to pulverising) Neil Young. It’s a sorrowful alt-folk lullaby that soothes and sedates.

Each of these songs is taken from their forthcoming second album, The Cost of Living, which is due to be released on July 16th.
