Seattle, Washington’s Coral Grief is an indie trio whose new LP, Air Between Us, is due out on July 18, 2025, via Suicide Squeeze Records (digital), Anxiety Blanket Records (vinyl), and Den Tapes (cassette).
Rockhounds is the first single from the album. It is part jangly dream pop lullaby, part surf-rock symphony, part shoegaze-lite, but with notable krautrock tendencies. It is a real mish-mash of styles, and it works beautifully.
With an assortment of dreamy textures and an almost constant motorik rhythm at its core, this is easy to love and an exceptionally compelling listen. The rhythm section, in particular, keeps you locked in and on edge throughout, so much so that when the beat finally shifts and the tempo changes as the song concludes – right around the 03:55 mark – it almost feels like a sense of relief and with that comes a distinct feeling of exaltation.
We will definitely be checking out the album when it drops.
