Marry Me Emelie! Flowers single cover

Single: Marry Me Emelie! – Flowers

With “Flowers” Marry Me Emelie! delivers a hazy listen.

Marry Me Emelie! Is the dark pop project of Ella Bruccoleri and Yoan Segot based in London. Their instrumentals are built on electric guitars and vocals that are melancholic in their own unique way.

Their debut single, “I Have a Lark” was praised by Glide Magazine, which called it a “spellbinding” listen and praised the band for their sole uniqueness.

Following their EP, “the distance makes the mountains blue”, the pop project based on Bruccoleri and Segot released their single “Flowers” on June 5th. The song is quiet and hazy, reminiscent of Holly Macve and Mazzy Star, the lyrics are captivating and hold onto one recurring image in the song. “Flowers placed in the hand/Silence laid at the feet/And that look you gave me-/Flowers. Ella Bruccoleri and Yoan Segot handled the performance and production together, with Segot composing the single and Bruccoleri writing the lyrics and doing the vocal delivery. Adam Gardner plays the drums and contributes to the background vocals alongside Samuel Austin, who adds percussion. The band is calculated and leaves space for the vocals.

In Bruccoleri’s delivery, her vibes are similar to an era in the 60’s, and the melancholy is similar to Venice Bitch, off Lana Del Rey’s album. Norman Fucking Rockwell.  Her delivery towards the end, with the repetition of “Flowers” and “Silence/Laid at my feet,” is so beautiful and captures so much emotion.

“Flowers” is such a beautiful track that can be played outdoors in a place like Yosemite, where the world goes quiet. I’ll be sure to listen to it when I go there later this month. Marry Me Emelie! captures the essence of this song perfectly and is a project you need to listen to.
