Last Laugh is the lead single from the new Tuxis Giant album, You Won’t Remember This, out 15/08/2025 via Worry Bead Records.
Less than two minutes long, Last Laugh is a gritty but slick slice of Americana-infused indie rock. It sounds a bit like how you imagine The Magic Numbers collaborating with My Morning Jacket might sound, and it’s executed with class and conviction. The guitar tones range from warm and creamy to cutting and biting, and the rhythm section keeps things ticking along nicely.
According to the band, the song explores the complex relationship between self-medication and the awareness of its hollow relief. “There comes a point when you realize you could numb yourself forever”, says songwriter Matt O’Connor.
The highlight of the track is the relationship between the two vocalists. With a decidedly retro feel, the female harmonies perfectly complement the lead male vocal to create a feeling of intimacy and nostalgia.
