Like early First Aid Kit and Laura Marling playing a Laura Viers song, LASKA’s new tune – 10 & 2 – is a thing of spectral, almost witchy beauty. It’s full of atmosphere and intrigue and is a tapestry of tones and textures.
Portland, Oregon-based sisters Hannah and Mookie Morton comprise the group’s core. On this track, they are joined by Evan Middlesworth on bass and percussion and Julia Kneen on drums.
With the interplay between the individual instruments and the way the vocals blend, this song also reminds us in part of The Flower Hour alumni Shady Cove and the wonderful This Is The Kit.
A new band to us, but a group who have been putting out music since 2016; this is the second single taken from LASKA’s upcoming album Long Long Hallway, and if this is anything go by, it will undoubtedly be worth a listen!
