It’s time for another track from Start-Track artist and friend of the blog Swiss Portrait, a.k.a. Michael Kay Terrence. “Lets Take A Walk” is the fourth single from Swiss Portrait in 2026, and it’s got all the jangle pop juice fans have come to love from the Scottish songwriter.
I find it interesting that Terrence has chosen to leave the apostrophe out of the word “Lets” in the title. One could take that in two ways. It could read like a rushed text message, or how someone might text if they were desperate to get in touch with someone. But written like this, “lets” could also read like the synonym for “allows” or “permits”, as in “Allow me to take a walk, so that I might figure out where I am and where I’m going.”
Either one of these readings – or both of them together – could explain the spirit of Swiss Portrait’s new track. Terrence explains that “Lets Take A Walk” is about “not being sure where you are and how you feel about everything around you”. That meditative and pensive nature comes through in the music: The overall jangling nature of the song, Terrence’s high and airy vocals, and the emphasis on the baritone guitar, bass, and repeating drum pattern. The well-rounded soundscape lends itself to an ethereal or out-of-body feeling, as Terrence suggests in the lyrics:
“Let’s waste our time / Forget the world / Is this all you want / I’m not so, not so sure.”
This new track makes for a good addition to a walking playlist, perfect for those moments where the wanderlust takes over. Sometimes you just have to take a walk, even if it’s for no reason other than to move your body and relax your brain. Take a listen to “Lets Take A Walk” below.
