Single: Teose – Part II

Teose is a band from Glasgow.

The song ‘Part II’ marks a bold new chapter for the band. It showcases a more polished and pop-forward sound while staying true to the raw emotional honesty that has become their signature.

Upbeat, energetic indie/rock – alternative rock vibes here. Lovely, warm, double-tracked, harmonised vocals and the music is carried by bass, drums and guitar. I really like how the bass is very prominent and not just following along or holding down the fort as is usual in this style of music. The vocals are very punky in that there is something almost sassy about them, which adds a lot of character. I really enjoyed the song overall; the structure is more fluid than one would expect from pop, and there is a lot of musicality here. It gave me Yes and even Eloy vibes at parts, but mostly Rush! I don’t know if it is one of their influences. Still, the arrangement, the bridges between the riffs, the groove and the way the vocal melodies work on what is being played (even the tone of the voice to some extent) really reminded me of Rush (and I love that band!) and by the time I got to the end of the song and that little tuttti was played, I was almost sure this, not a homage, but definitely a little wink to the boys from Canada.
