“Gorro is a Miami-based indie musician blending lo-fi indie rock and dream pop with jangly melodies, shimmering chords, and soft introspection. Emerging from the city’s underground scene, his songs feel both spacious and emotionally immediate, nostalgic and quietly alive.”
The quote above was shared with us as part of the submission for these three singles. It is a rare occasion when an artist shares not only one single, but three at the same time. Gorro released them in the past two months, and I enjoyed all of them, so I decided to write about them in bulk.
If you have been following my writing or, in general, my taste, you would have noticed that dreamy jangle lo-fi bedroom rock is something I can enjoy instantly. This type of sound has been accompanying this blog for ages (almost 15 years now) and has become a significant portion of the music we write about. Somehow, the lo-fi sound is still alive and doing well, and this newest artist is an excellent addition to our dreamy lo-fi collection.
From laidback chill dreamy track “HUH” to fast-paced, almost post-punky “Come to me” or more lo-fi, poppy track “hehe“, the artist is sharing a variety of sounds, but all of them have been significantly lo-fi, bringing a dreamy atmosphere. The summer might be over in this part of the world, but today is blue sky, and a warm sun is making this cold November day bearable. The Gorros’ tracks are radiating with summer energy, and I am up for it. The tracks are easy to listen to and quite catchy, and I bet that you will enjoy them when you give them a chance.
I am always wondering when mt appetite for lo-fi bedroom indie rock will be gone, but even after all these years, I still have room for more. I don’t know if the artist is working on an album or if there are any EPs in the works, but all three singles would be a solid addition to it. Maybe you are over the lo-fi sound, you have heard it a million times, and you would like to listen to something fresher, but I have bad news for you: you will get more of this in the future.
