SUDS is an emo folk four-piece band from East Anglia, consisting of Mae, Dan, Jack, and Harry, four close friends who met in October 2021. This newest single is taken from their upcoming album “Tell me about your day again,” which is set to be released on November 21. You can read about the album more on the Bandcamp page or pre-order it on vinyl. In their short bio on streaming, they have defined the sound of their new music as a “combination of inspirations from early 1970s American Folk to the Midwest Emo scene.” I agree with this description, and I can definitely hear the influence of emo, with the folky influence creating a mesmerizing sonic experience. This newest single has a bit of shoegaze influence as well, which makes it even more interesting.
When reading the description of their new album, I have been captivated by the idea that it should be “an emotionally raw but confident collection of songs that have all of the great SUDS hallmarks: hope, charm, and a penchant for storytelling, all while reflecting on personal challenges and the resilience of their friendship.” This new single definitely reflects that. I have been enjoying the energy this song brings, and the sound looks authentic, in some ways, very vulnerable.
The song already shows a promising sound, and the album description has me wanting to check out the full album when it is out later this month. SUDS brings a unique sound that I would love to explore more. The emotive, captivating lead single is making this release one we should not miss. We have been sharing a lot of great music from the UK indie scene, and I could not be happier to add another name to the list.
The British emo scene has been producing exciting bands, and I would love to hear more. We will do our best to cover as much as we can, as the UK music scene has been dear to us since the start of this blog.
In the meantime, I will listen to this fantastic song on repeat and just get lost in the beautiful atmosphere it creates.
The band will be touring the UK in February, so do not forget to catch them live.
