Single: hamburger – Rip

This band of Bristolians sound like they’ve been teleported from a trans-Atlantic emo-realm that’s decidedly non West Country but they inhabit their sound world with such exuberance that their stateside sonic tailoring fits them like a dream.  A six piece that powers a lot into this lead single’s one minute, seventeen seconds- they play a tight and angular game but one where pop sensibilities settle in and take hold nicely, a collision of fun and fury that fizzes brightly throughout.

It’s a fuzzy, youthful slice of emo-pop froth with a bit of angsty pining thrown into it all too. The wonk of the keyboard lines pull this into new territories and allows those pop-punk palette-piled tones to be diverted intriguingly further. The melody too hooks you in with ear-worming energy and after it’s few breathless minutes continues to bounce around the brain. E.p Beat Back The Ghouls is out at the end of November; until then let this coil its way into the cortex.
