To say that the singularly named Evil wears many hats feels like an understatement. Originally the standout of the iconic Barf Troop underneath the name Babeo Baggins, Evil left such name in the dust to pursue their brand of country music with two EPs. This time around, Evil has returned back on their pop shit.
First was released the Stooges-referencing “d099”, a salacious, furry-friendly mover that references the sparse, soultronic sound reminiscent of the mid-2010s with verses from both Evil and Liplock (formerly named Babe Field, for those not familiar). It’s the sound of two friends getting together for a little bop for those who miss when the gang was gangin’!
“hard 2 handle” leans more towards indie rock with lyrics that allude to a relationship where despite a person being hard to manage, there is still love. But both songs slightly reference a BDSM relationship where the obedient lover has a chance of taming the wild. “you’re so well-behaved/let you out your cage/you’re my favorite, baby/do you want to play?”, songs Evil on the track boasting sunny guitar strums and fluttering woodwinds.
