Single: quickly, quickly – Enything

Newly released single “Enything”, by Graham Jonson of quickly, quickly, has fully encapsulated my attention this week. From the very first hit, you’re pulled into a melodic guitar line that can only be described as irresistible and candy-sweet.

This first single, released from the upcoming album “I Heard That Noise”, is a perfectly balanced smorgasbord of sounds that offers tastes of dream-pop, groovy bass lines, rhythmic electronics, and bursts of what I like to think of as “brain static” that act as the cherry on top of this treat of a listen.

The melancholic and love-struck lyrics paint a picture of the all-to-recognizable honeymoon phase for the anxiously attached. With lines like “I’ll buy a truck/Change my hair to cover up my eyes” and “I’ll wear your coat/Even though it’s not my size”, you get an idea of how far one can be willing to go to hold onto the love and approval of the one they desire most—even if it means becoming a shapeshifter.

As you land into the dreamy and almost nostalgic pool of the outro, the angelic vocals and acoustic lines seem to whisk you off to a pleasant sleep, where the listener can anticipate beginning the next morning bright-eyed and at their love’s beck and call once more.
