Single: Lone Striker – Never Blown A Kiss (LOWMOON remix}

Lone Striker is a UK-based indie artist who blends elements of indie and anti-folk styles with samples of old-school genres, such as soul and doo-wop, mixed with drum loops, acoustic guitars, and synths, creating an emotional and almost dream-like atmosphere. Led by musician Tom Brown, the project released its self-titled album in March of 2024 via the record label Safe Suburban Home. The album features 11 tracks plus a remix of the song “Never Blown A Kiss.”

The remix unites Lone Striker with fellow Safe Suburban Home artist LOWMOON. While the original track features a more experimental folk sound centered around an acoustic guitar, the remix adopts a synth-based style reminiscent of dream pop and 1980s synth pop. It samples old-school keyboard sounds mixed with heavy reverb and effects that really help build an almost shoegaze-like atmosphere. The dreamy, nostalgic sound of the original track is beautifully enhanced. The remix feels like a solid reinterpretation of the original track and, in some ways, can be seen as an improvement over the original song.

The track features a nostalgic tone, combining samples of old music and lyrics that reminisce about the songwriter’s life and past experiences. The track is accompanied by a music video featuring old-school style VHS footage of a beach and children playing, layered with footage of a now-grown man, creating a nostalgic theme in the video in addition to the music.
