Released on May 30th, LaterGator’s new single Smile Softer scratches my itch for new music that I can play on repeat and annoy all of my friends with. It packs a huge punch with its crunchy guitar and hard-hitting vocals, and I wanna scream the lyric “until all I am is shattered glass” over and over until my voice goes hoarse. The chorus has an element of nostalgia to it, having that sound and tone that carry an inherent sort of fun to them that’s so contagious, you start reminiscing on your favorite moments whether you want to or not. LaterGator has done that with many of their tracks in the past, creating a sound that forces upon you this instant kind of connection that you just can’t shake, like an incorporeal rope that tethers you to that track for the rest of eternity – and I like it that way. Smile Softer has that coming-of-age quality that makes you think of a montage, or your best friends, or wild adventures, and I know LaterGator’s songwriting and pure talent are going to catapult them and their music as far as they want to go.
