We had the pleasure of introducing this Newport-based British gloomy emo pop troubadour Brightr, which has shared a new single called ‘Never Home, Never Mind’ from the upcoming album ‘Year Two’. In contrast to the first single, ‘Charles Petrescu, ’ the song is bringing a different version of Brightr’s sound that is more personal and vulnerable as well. Stripped down acoustic folk infused emo pop infused with powerful midwest emo guitar riffs that are brought to you in an acoustic wrap that is not only making it easier to connect with but also a more profound emotional experience. The band is slowly revealing pieces of the new album, along with the sound you can expect.
Brightr has even shared with us a little bit of a narrative behind the song:
“The title comes from a line in the chorus, not something I often do, but it resonated, so I did it. It is a song about mistakes, about inflicting sadness on someone you love above everyone else, about messing up, but about trying every day to do better and make things feel better for that person.”
I have been captivated by emo scenes across different parts of the world, and it has been one of the most dedicated and welcoming scenes. As a nobody from Slovakia who grew up shaping my own music world and being part of the wider music scene, I have always been encouraged to go deeper and find more from the local scene. Going deeper than the Midwest emo general scene, diving into the UK emo scene feels like putting a lot of puzzle pieces together to create a colourful music palette. I am amazed by this procedure, which makes blogging even more exciting.
