Single: Gingham – Lucky

Gingham is formed of five long-term friends who cut their teeth in the Birmingham music scene in various acts. They blend elements of sub-genre sounds from the 60s to the 90s – ranging from jangle-pop to twee and from psych to folk.

A blissful indie/alt-folk dream pop song, Lucky is a study on imposter syndrome – in the words of Ted from the band: “The lyrics were inspired by my time in a band when I was younger where I felt like the least talented member and that someone else would deserve my space more”.

It incorporates elements of shoegaze with some distinctive alt-country twang and has a reflective, hazy feeling to it. With gorgeous male/female vocal dynamics and waves of shimmering spacey guitars that crash over the listener, enveloping them in sultry sound.

Lucky follows on from last year’s debut single From The Start. That track secured plays on both KEXP and BBC 6 Music and gained them over 15,000 Spotify streams.

Gingham went on to play packed-out shows across England including supporting legendary Lush frontwoman Miki Berenyi who said their set was “amazing”. She should know.
