‘Smoking sounds good again’
Dream Jeans is singer-songwriter Alex Hillman, purveyor of downtrodden indie pop. ‘NYE 2023’ is a dour and slack-jawed affair that ebbs with resignation and hopelessness. His soft and smokey, Mac Demarco-tinged vocal delivery rambles on somewhat aimlessly, like an extended sigh of ‘I quit’, poetically rolled out over 3 minutes of simple yet effective instrumental work. It is deeply intimate, almost uncomfortably so. Lay on your couch, light one up and bliss out.
