Single: Disaster Kid – Interstate Runner

This dynamic band, based in the vibrant city of Chicago, has crafted their unique sound by uniting members who hail from various states across the country. Each musician contributes their distinct influences and styles, creating a rich tapestry of musical artistry. Excitingly, they are set to release a new EP titled “Rare Bird,” which is scheduled to drop in March. This collection promises to showcase their eclectic talents and fresh perspectives. Here’s a glimpse from their press release:

“Packed with careful reflection and passionate melodies, “nostalgia” rock band Disaster Kid is keen to write a song that remembers: a gas station stop between two states, a curious scene outside a local dive, a solemn exchange in a zoo’s reptile house. Their new EP Rare Bird (March 2025) is a collection of those notices and observations, attempting to digest the present moment in an attention-demanding world and pinpointing the small details that strike us in large ways.”

I’ve been pondering the concept of “nostalgia rock,” and honestly, I’m still trying to grasp what it truly means. Regardless, there’s something about it that resonates with me, and I find myself drawn to it, which is quite enjoyable! The song is infused with captivating guitar riffs that really stand out and evoke a sense of timelessness. The vocals have a classic folk or indie rock quality that adds to its charm.

There’s an intriguing element that I can’t quite pinpoint, but I truly cherish the atmosphere created by both the music and the lyrics. I’ve played it on repeat, utterly captivated by its essence. I’m eagerly anticipating the release of the full EP, as the single has already laid a solid foundation for my excitement and curiosity about what’s to come. It’s definitely a promising start that’s building my anticipation!
