“The single “Right Here” is the third official softlightsymphony release (a collaboration with lyricist & vocalist Olivia Tharpe).
softlightsymphony is a collaborative dreampop/dreamgaze studio project founded by guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Stephan Thomas in the shadow of Hartford, Connecticut. Its sound draws influences from early dreampop, indie-rock/pop, postpunk and shoegaze with musical influences from bands such as The Cocteau Twins, The Sundays, Lush and Chapterhouse.”
I recently received a submission for a new single and I was eager to give it a listen since we had featured the artist’s previous work in our playlists. I’ve always been a fan of dreamy shoegaze songs because the sound of guitars has a mesmerizing effect on me, transporting me to another place. Olivia’s voice adds a beautiful layer to the song, and I found myself completely captivated by it. The overall vibe of the song took me back to the early 2000s and 2010s when I first started exploring shoegaze genres. I love the atmosphere this song creates, and I’ve been listening to it on repeat. My love for dream pop and shoegaze is still going strong, and I can’t wait for more.
