Single: Buckley’s Angel – DML

“Buckley’s Angel is the ongoing moniker of LA multi-instrumentalist Michael Kelly (Ash Williams, Matt Caskitt & The Breaks)”

After three years, Michael Kelly’s solo project, Buckley’s Angel returns with a splash. ‘DML’ Kelly’s first release since 2021’s, ‘Exit Culture’ EP, is a sweetly euphoric indie-pop moment. In a similar vein to fellow indie-poppers, Boyscott, and early DIIV, squishy samples and fuzzy static are used to fill out the track. Kelly’s voice is obscured by a gorgeous wave of jangly guitars, the sound of seashells hitting the shore.

It’s a summer afternoon vibe, with seagulls up above and the beach stretched out in front of you; whilst we wait for the summer to arrive properly here in the UK, we can plug into Buckley’s Angel and transport ourselves to sunnier days. If you are seeking the days when the city is packed full of heat, then Buckley’s Angel’s, ‘DML’, will tide you over for just a little longer.
