“Buffalo-based alternative rock band named after the back label of a Molson Canadian bottle. For fans of the music your parents played while driving you to soccer practice who later became emo.”
This is a short bio that will welcome you on the band’s Bandcamp page, and I have been really enjoying it. Even though this Buffalo-based alternative rock/emo/pop/punk collective has submitted their last year’s single, Coexistence, to us, they have released another single, Creep II, this April, so I decided to give it space here as well.
The band shared some more background info about the song Coexistence:
“A retelling of a fast falling out between lifelong friends, the lyric is equal parts self-reflective and bitterly reflexive. The track combines a furiously picked intro and big hook reminiscent of turn-of-the-century mall emo with a duo of sputtering guitar solos that are distinctly AHC. Imitating the style of vintage travel brochures, the single’s cover art, designed by guitarist Craig Perno, invites the listener to escape to “Peaceful, blissful, coexistence!”
Both singles are heavily influenced by emo or pop punk music and are beaming with fresh energy, whether it is the slower, more alt-rock 90s style of “Creep II” or the more fast-paced, energetic pop punk anthem “Coexistence.” The singles would be amazing live, as both have stunning drive that is well crafted through great drums and guitars. The band has been releasing since 2019, but they came to my radar just recently and perfectly fit my goal this year to share more emo music.
I am really interested to see what the band will bring next and how powerful the new track will be. One thing I really loved about Coexistence is the cover, which adds another layer to the song’s aesthetic. Additionally, I appreciate the band’s name, as a long-time ice hockey fan, so this reference is even more appealing. I have been really enjoying these two latest offerings and their new direction, which is suiting me even more.
I have been listening to the tracks on repeat while putting these words together, and I loved it. AHC should not be missed on your music radar, and I am looking forward to what they will come up with next time.
