“The Kartetch are situational grunge, flimsy shoegaze, and drunken orchestra lads.”
This is how the band is labelling themselves. The band, as seen on Instagram, is a duo of nomads from Tbilisi, Georgia, to be exact. They have been influenced by 90s grunge and shoegaze, and it is clearly visible in their latest single.
Emotional grunge with vocals that are shifting between clearly audible ones and screaming ones. Heavy guitars, energetic drumming, and a never-ending dreamy, but heavy melody. They are working on a new album, and here is a sneak peek. To be honest, I have never heard of Georgia’s shoegaze, but I am liking it very much. Emotional, energetic, eruptive.
I really loved how the melody gradually culminated towards the end, then abruptly ended with slow beats. The gentle start is repeated at the end of the song, making a nice wrap on the sound.
I cannot wait to hear the new album, as this is promising, and I am so excited to discover another music scene that is a big unknown for me, or even for our blog. The eastern parts of Europe are still not within our usual radar, so I am glad when bands try to reach out and share their work with us.
Sharing the lyrics below so you can follow along while listening to this track.
I wish I could wake up there
Where you go on to live
Where silence is split with care
And July’s promised love to give
To those who were claimed as fools
Embittered by the whole world
Who’s not even convincing in drama moves
But who’s gonna waste their final screen role
I wish I could simply know
How you go on to live
And I’m flashing before
Your eyes
Forgive
I’m used to be a naive fool
But trust me, it’s not your fault
It seems like just a few days ago
You gave me my final screen role
And you remain here all alone
And something lies ahead unknown
It’s been a few days ago
You gave me this life to keep
Where chaos was my screen role
From time to time, I broke into a scream
You haven’t stopped whispering that I’m not alone
You haven’t stopped loving me
The hardest thing for your son
Is to learn that life is too brief
I wish I could wake up there
Where you go on to live
I wish I could wake up there
Where you go on to
Where you go on to live
And you remain here all alone
And something lies ahead unknown
And you remain here all alone
