“It was 2020. The end of one decade and the start of something new. Caiden Kinsey appeared on the doorstep of John Michael Rocha’s house in Austin, Texas with beers in hand and harmonies in head. There were no gigs to hustle and no recordings to make. They made music for the fun of it. Ace Brown joined the party with some incredible lead vocals and not long after that, Mac Allan and his extraordinary skill of drumming came along to a rehearsal to see what was going on. And, from that inauspicious beginning emerged one of Austin’s most beloved pop-punk bands.”
A quote above was taken from the band’s Spotify bio, and I find it very funny, so I have shared it in full. Their newest song was written on Halloween night and is about getting hammered and partying. Do you remember late 90s or early 2000s pop punk ala Blink 182, NOFX, Green Day, Sum 41, Angels and Airwaves, or whatever you were listening to at that time? I have been fully immersed in the pop-punk genre, and as a teenager, I felt really cool about it.
This song brought me right back to those moments when loud but poppy music was my home. The song radiates so much energy, and I really love the classic pop-punk approach to the guitars, the intro, the vocals, and the overall atmosphere. Maybe you grew up with this type of music, but I will never forget my roots. There was still a long journey from pop punk to dream pop, but it was a lot of fun.
I have been listening to the song on repeat just to soak in all the energy and vent off after the whole work week has ended. I have a free Friday evening and just music in my ears, which will allow me to escape and dive virtually into the crowd to pogo.
