Need a song that hits you straight in the chest while still providing all of the magic and whimsy of a shoegaze bop? Then you’ve come to the right place. Pale recently released a new single titled, Not In Love, and this one is checking all of the boxes for me.
Pale hails from the UK, as many of my favorite bedroom pop and shoegaze-adjacent groups do. They’re releasing a new album on October 3rd called “Nights on Spirit Goth Records”, and gave us our first little bite with this entrancing single.
This is my first-ever taste-test of Pale, and from the jump, I could tell that this is a band I could overindulge in quickly (in the best way). The layers of sound act as a beanbag you can plop yourself down in and sink to the bottom of reality. The guitar tones are warm and shiny, providing a nostalgic and thoughtful quality to the whole track.
Here are the lyrics for good measure:
You don’t wanna say, that you miss her
You just wanna prove, you don’t need her
Cus’ you’re not in love
You don’t wanna think, about her
But life doesn’t seem the same, without her
Cus’ you’re not in love
Though it seems like minimal lyrics at first glance, they place them so perfectly in the cadence of the song that it feels endless and too quick all at the same time. This is a song you want on loop, and I don’t normally suggest that unless I dig every single second of a track. With this song, you get oh so lost and you don’t even CARE!
I can’t say enough good things about Not In Love, so I’ll keep this brief: Stream this new single now, so you can be there when they drop the album on October 3rd, ready to enjoy like I will be.
Show them some love on social media if you vibe with the track and their overall sound!
