Single: Oliver Beardmore – Ammonite (feat. Punchlove)

Dreamlike textures, reverb-drenched guitars, and soft, hazy vocals. London-based singer-songwriter Oliver Beardmore joins forces with Brooklyn experimental shoegazers Punchlove to create Ammonite, a dreampop masterpiece that blurs the line between reality and imagination.

“The song is about being drawn to people who share the same insecurities or flaws,” Beardmore explains. “We project our issues onto each other, but that weight often causes hurt that no one else is really to blame for. There’s freedom in no longer searching for your flaws in someone else, and relief in calling off that search. In the end, you can hurt yourself more than anyone else ever could — but there’s something almost hedonistic in giving yourself away to someone who’ll let you.”

Ammonite isn’t the kind of song that demands your attention; it just exists around you, slowly filling the space until you’re completely lost in it. The guitars shimmer in the background, bathed in reverb, the drums move slowly and steadily, like a heartbeat grounding everything together. The vocals are intimate, gentle, and distant, each word landing softly but deeply. There’s something comforting and sad about it at the same time, like remembering a moment that never really happened but still feels real. Beardmore and Punchlove manage to capture that melancholic, nostalgic haze perfectly, pulling you into its warmth until you forget where one thought ends and the next begins.
