Single: Mox – Star

With a beginning that sounds a bit like our own Noa Mal and cult hero Elliott Smith collaborating on a cover of She Don’t Use Jelly, Star by Californian singer-songwriter Mox is a rough and ready lo-fi indie pop jaunt.

In amongst trashy rhythm guitar, Beatles-esque lead tones and playful keys, there are also electronic elements that add an additional layer and textures to the track, and they work so well it’s hard to imagine them not being there. The album the track is taken from – her sophomore record, Spirits – is due out July 18th.

Mox is very active in the local Merced/Central Valley concert scene. Try to catch her if you can!
