Single: Jackie West – Ruins

‘Why is it so hard to look you in the eye?’

Jackie West is a Boston-born, New York-based artist with a knack for marrying awkward and jagged instrumental moments with silky and deeply melodic rumination. Ethereal guitar arpeggios lock in in the foreground while West reflects on a specific and hard-to-place disdain or aversion. The staccato slices of bass and distorted guitar add to the tension and shiftiness, used in a Cate Le Bon-esque manner with excellent results.
