Shoegaze is definitely in the middle of a bit of a renaissance period at the moment and this track – and what it represents for this band – is no exception.
Hattiesburgh, Mississippi’s Goth Dad are back with a new single – their first new music since they began a hiatus back in 2021.
My Bloody Valentine noise meets Low’s slowcore methodical measured pace with a smidge of new wave/synthpop textures thrown in for food measure on “Talking To Myself”. Trimmed down from an initial 15 MINUTES, this is a glorious slice of scuzzy, hazy, dreamy, organised chaos that absolutely drips with musical assuredness.
Talking To Myself is 2 parts uppercut – in the form of a mirage of guitars – and 1 part warm hugs – in the shape of wistful melody and airy vocals. We await what comes next with bated breath.
