The charm of listening to a demo is feeling like you were right there watching a band work the kinks out of their sound. Whether you may agree or not, the feeling of watching someone shooting in the gym is rewarding once they finally make it. Now imagine this is a punk band with two songs on the roster, and you get Neveryona.
“I Know You Know” is a very raw post-punk ripper using a drum machine and gritting guitar that swings from surf punk to some of the darkest goth songs known. Even as the guitar tears you limb for limb, in the middle is a frontwoman that balances being seductive and animated. “Get In the Pit” turns things up with a bit for those trying to dance and those who really want to thrash around to swirling, psychedelic guitars and grooving drums. Imagine the new wave queens of the 80s if they became hardcore punk frontwomen over culturally lauded pop stars, and you will be well in the idea of what “Get in the Pit” sounds like.
What you are hearing is a band working out some song links, but there isn’t a doubt that once they have the funds, they’ll be a force.
