Ska and Funk legends Fishbone, first formed in 1979 and have been putting out music ever since- for 45 years now! On November 1st, just in time for the US election, they released their latest single, and yes, it absolutely is relevant that it came out right before the election, as the song title, “Racist Piece of Shit” is specifically talking about one of the candidates.
The song is very political, speaks truth to power, and is absolutely a protest song, but as Fishbone points out on their social media post before the song dropped, just because a song has an important message doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to dance to it. This song is absolutely one of the catchiest songs and has incredible, fun, funky, danceable rhythms and incredible keyboard work and guitar solos that set grooves to make you move while calling out a racist piece of shit for exactly who and what he is.
If you live in the US, go out there, dance your ass to your polling location, and vote to keep that racist piece of shit out of office.
