An ode to workplace douchebags, It’s Not That I Hate You is a raw outpouring of frustration that can only come from enduring repeating bouts of fuckery. Nashville’s Gabrielle Grace has nailed the extremely relatable feeling of real-life emotional exhaustion and has crystallised it in song.
Written as a response to those around her overstepping the mark and the pressures of everyday life, It’s Not That I Hate You is an anthem for the modern age. Whilst obviously deeply personal, we’re sure that people across the globe will identify with the sentiment.
Musically, it’s part alt-folk-flecked indie a la Phoebe Bridgers, part gritty old school female-fronted alt-rock (think Sleater-Kinney, Garbage or L7) with a sprinkling of modern pop sheen and shine.
Grace made her musical debut in 2001 and has been writing, refining, and honing her craft ever since. New music is on the way and we reckon the stratosphere beckons.
