Single: Frog Fortress – The Hidden Cove

“The Hidden Cove” sounds more evolved, deviating from Frog Fortress’s usual high energy skate punk sound for something much fuller and more harmonic.

Frog Fortress takes things in a different direction on his latest single, “The Hidden Cove,” adding more of a power pop element to his sonic catalog.

Let’s be honest. No artist wants to feel pigeonholed to one specific style or genre, right? Sometimes to find depth, it requires digging deep and doing something a little bold and unconventional.

“The Hidden Cove” is the first sampling of something really more evolved. It deviates from the high energy skate punk sound for something much fuller and more harmonic.

Frog Fortress said he wrote the song about a now-closed karaoke bar he used to frequent with his friends when they were in their late 20s.

It’s not just a tribute to an establishment that was near and dear to him. The bar is no longer around, and in many ways, the song helps keep its spirit and memories alive—but it’s about more than that.

He said the song was a way to pay homage to a simpler time in his life, before the pandemic, back to a time when his biggest concern was trying to outmatch his friends and their drunken shenanigans and over-the-top performances.

“The Hidden Cove” is a catchy little earworm with some early Weezer vibes. It’s the type of track that really stands out in the best of ways. It still starts off a little angsty and whiny, but once things get going it’s undeniably infectious and a little nostalgic.

Take a listen to “The Hidden Cove” below.
