“Voices Outside” is a strong opening statement for Dog in A Man Suit’s upcoming album Contact, blending sharp guitar work with a clean, thoughtful mix that makes it a joy to hear on a technical level. The arrangement is tight, giving just enough space for each instrument to shine without losing the urgency of its punk roots. Vocally, the interplay between Anjali Nair and Billie Seeland is especially compelling—comforting yet insistent, carrying the carpe diem message with warmth and conviction. Anjali’s voice in particular stands out, clear and assured against the layered instrumentation.
The song’s punk energy is softened by the way the guitars and vocals work together. It’s emotionally resonant without doing too much, and the cohesion between the players—Anjali and Billie on guitars, Chris Seeland on bass, and Dula Peep on drums—gives the track a grounded, lived-in feel. As an opener, “Voices Outside” sets both the sonic and thematic tone for the album, and I cannot wait to check it out!
