EP: LØVE OUTLIER – breather

Breather by LOVE OUTLIER is a burst of energy from start to finish, with a loudness that feels both unexpected and intentional from their messaging. This fits well into this portion of their story. The band leans into a kind of chaotic optimism, where the sheer volume and grit of the instrumentation reawakens something playful and youthful in the listener. Vocals soar above the strong, guitar-driven arrangements, carrying a raw edge that complements the EP’s unpolished charm. There’s a sense of carelessness here—not in the craft, but in the freeing, unfiltered way the songs are delivered—that makes the whole project easy to enjoy.

Across its five tracks, the EP maintains a driving momentum that’s equal parts cathartic and uplifting. “Dial Tone,” the standout collaboration with Northcote, showcases both the band and Northcote’s range—balancing hoarse, impassioned delivery with moments of satisfying harmonies. The lyrics are spirited and give the noise and chaos a sense of purpose. “This is a way out” is also a clever title for a closing track, and the impassioned voice that rings throughout the song not only sounds confrontational but feels intense about their encouragement. This expression of frustration is so evident and really embodies the best about rock music – the texture.
