Single: Club 8 – Daydreams

Having already reviewed Club 8 and spending time with their song Stay Together, it feels familiar returning to their sound here, especially knowing their long history of crafting dreamy indie pop.

Daydreams goes right into it, with a short instrumental intro before the vocals come in. We get a perfectly reverbed snare alongside a piano and guitar mix that immediately sets the tone. The song reminds me of Jorge Elbrecht in both the way it is written and the vocal delivery. When the chorus hits, a lovely tambourine comes in and takes up the pace.

I really enjoy the vocal delivery because there is not too much going on. It feels static in a good way, which makes you pay attention to the beauty in the instrumental. Toward the end of the second verse, there are instrumental licks that act as a call and response from the vocals.

I really enjoy the length of the song. It is short but not lacking structure, which means it can be repeated again and again. The snare is also a great constant throughout the song. Even with slight variations in the chorus, it keeps everything grounded.

Overall, it is a very upbeat and playful song. The production is beautiful and pulls from a lot of styles, while still feeling very much like a Club 8 sound.
