‘Magic amulet hangs around my neck’
It feels as though a warm blanket is pulled up to your neck within the opening 30 seconds or so to Carl Dolphin’s new single ‘Amulet’. It’s the lead single from his upcoming album and sets a mellow, slacker tone, reminiscent of Yo La Tengo’s gentle moments and Modest Mouse’s off-kilter introspection. The lyrics and vocal delivery are nonchalant yet evocative and all the instrumental elements compliment each other beautifully and result in a timeless feel.
