Taken from Viruette’s debut album, ‘Capture’ captures (see what I did there?) the Boston band’s warm interpretation of indie-rock. It surfs along at a steady pace, jangling about like Wilco’s lo-fi younger sibling. Just past the halfway mark,’Capture’ cautiously falls apart into a fuzzy dreamscape, lending the ear some textural yumminess that keeps you wanting to return to the moment.
Viruette’s emotionally lead indie-rock is a reminder of what is possible with the simplest of intentions. They are amongst a new wave of progressive jangle-pop that effortlessly display what is so good about this genre of music.
