Don’t be fooled by the lower case, caed (proper name Caedmon Moore) is making waves in the shoegaze scene. Having been a big fan of this genre for a while now, ‘throw me in’ offers a promising future not just for the young artist but the genre as a whole.
From the gentle strumming of acoustic guitars that leads us in, to the dazzling and wavy layers of the rest of the song, it’s impossible not to find something that you like/love about this tune.
The pounding drum pattern helps to ground the song, which, for something that is on the verge of feeling too cluttered at times, is refreshing. caed’s breathy vocals also add something of a distinct nostalgia to the track, an irreplaceable quality that you just can’t put your finger on until you give it a listen yourself. It’s pleasant, comforting even, which is just what’s needed during the cold Winter months.
With the energy dipping slightly at the end, it gives the synths their time to shine and rounds the song off nicely. A joyous journey from beginning to end, it’s easy to understand the passion that’s been put behind ‘throw me in’.
At just nineteen years old and doing most of it solo, it’s extremely impressive to see what the young musician has already achieved, and I, for one, can’t wait to see where caed goes in the future!
