“Twos” by The Noisy is a track full of lush vocals, grungy pop-rock sound that blends smooth, honeyed vocals with sludgy guitars and glimmering synths. It’s melancholic and vulnerable, poetic without pretension, telling a story of late-night lovers and fleeting summer intimacy with unabashed honesty. The lyrics are intimate and slightly explicit, but never crude; instead, they carry a loving remorse that feels earned and reflective. There’s a polished sheen to the production, but the song never loses its raw heart. It’s this effortless emotional layering that makes it so enjoyable.
The single follows the success of “Violet Lozenge” and expands The Noisy’s cinematic queer storytelling in bold new directions. What started as a solo project by poet Sara Mae Henke in Knoxville has grown into a fully realized band with a distinct theatrical flair. With their debut album, The Secret Ingredient is More Meat, celebrating its first anniversary, a deluxe edition—The Secret Ingredient is Even More Meat (beautiful title by the way, I love names, get it tattooed on me) is promising.
