Seadog’s recent single, “Into The Night”, was produced and mixed by Michelle Hindriks (of Brighton-based band Ciel) at 17B Studios, in Brighton, UK, and mastered by engineer Paul Pascoe at Church Road Studios, Hove, UK.
Seadog’s music has had airplay on Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing The South, and one of their other singles “Tidal Wave” got them selected for Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing Mixtape and spotlighted on Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6 Music Recommends show.
“Into The Night” itself is a spooky dive into isolation and anxiety, capturing that eerie feeling of lingering ghosts long after the lights go out.
Starting the song, I felt a phantom fall breeze, and snuggled deeper into my couch, ready to listen to the track before me.
“Raindrops falling on roof tops of cars as time slips away into the night.“
The scene of raindrops falling onto cars as the day turns to night is such a visceral image, a situation almost everyone has been in before. The mix of rain and night adds that layer of solemness, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the song.
Anxious ghosts wait in headlights, too afraid to step out of the light, so they bide their time in the dead end of the night.
Both spooky and introspective, the mention of ghosts in that lyric made me think of both Halloween and the idea of being a ghost in someone’s life, always haunting the narrative.
The rest of the song was like a dream, walking me through this night of deep emotions and turbulent weather.
“Into The Night” was beautifully produced and had some of the best lyrics I’ve heard in a while, and it will definitely be living on my playlist from now on!
