Silent diatribes
‘Insomnia’ begins with eerie harmonies and elegant guitars that intertwine and lose themselves amid delicate delay and the hum of a warm bass. It is disjointed and disarming in its beauty, until a cymbal swell gives way suddenly to mathy guitar work and vocals seemingly rooted in midwest emo. This is a genre I spent many years obsessed with and I haven’t found myself this impressed by new music of this style for a long while – I find myself coming back to Insomnia and the record it’s taken from (2022’s ‘null’) for repeated listens.
