Written in the moments before being separated by countries, Tex Bandicoot’s ‘Ordinary Life’ is an emotionally bittersweet instance.
Created by Tex Bandicoot and departing friend, ‘Ordinary Life’ is there to mark a time in both people’s lives. In the artist’s own words; “A nostalgic song to remember the good times but also to sit in the sombre of a new beginning”. It is far too often the case that the sadness of change is focussed on, not taking stock of what good came before. Songs like this see us through hard times, especially when the future is uncertain, and all that is good appears to be in the past.
‘Ordinary Life’ is a distorted feeling of a song. It captures the discomfort of new beginnings that sit alongside the warmth of nostalgia – a track that is filled with contradictions; but just like in ordinary life, we learn to live directly in the middle of the wonderful yet often bewildering juxtapositions that comes with being alive.
