This writer will be leaving the weekend behind in a few hours (unfortunately) and heading into a grueling workweek. Sunday afternoons are the perfect time to listen to some chill tunes to keep me in the “weekend” headspace as long as humanly possible, delaying the thoughts of the inevitable.
I threw on this new track from Red Tuesdays, and instantly I knew this was going to be one of those bands I could hyper-fixate on for months and months.
I’m a new listener to Red Tuesdays, but this song made me a massive fan right off the bat. Wyoming was released earlier this month, and in just a few seconds, they had me hooked to their sound. The dreamscape they create with the distorted guitars feels like you’ve been blessed enough to have been dropped in a whole other world.
When I first heard this song, my loudest thought was: “What a perfect amalgamation of the two genres I’ve been in love with lately.” Shoegaze and dream pop have inched their way slowly to near the top of my list, and bands like this just keep raising the bar in this space. I’ve truly heard some of the best songs come out of this scene in the past few months.
Aside from the instrumentation, the lyrics and vocal tone are so intoxicating. After I listened to this song, I had to dive into the rest of their discography without wasting a single second. They have such an effortlessly COOL vibe and the album art for Wyoming is killer. If you like post-punk, shoegaze, or dream pop at ALL…you’ll dig this band from the jump.
Wyoming is streaming now on Spotify and Apple Music, so don’t sleep on this opportunity to find a new band to add to your playlist!
