Channeling the likes of Mitski, Bartees Strange, and Rachel Chinouriri, South East London artist Tall Child (aka Zha Gandhi) unveils their powerful sophomore single Stupid Body. 2 years after Damaged, Stupid Body is the sonic crystallisation of anger, frustration and desolation.
Released via Sad Club Records, Stupid Body was born of the internal struggle of living with and attempting to manage a disability, whilst being met with a seemingly inevitable lack of understanding externally. The resulting track is an undeniably tragic, but at the same time, strangely uplifting, almost cathartic expression of helplessness and exasperation.
Born into a family of musicians, Zha has always been around the arts, but they really found their own creative community at Goldsmith’s University, honing their craft while playing in bands like Buggs and the rather fantastic Ghost Car.
Clearly, that was time well spent, and it bodes very well for whatever they decide to do next.
