Single: Business School – Canada

Another week in the books, do you know what that means? Another song that I couldn’t wait to jump into. Canada is the latest single drop from Business School, an ethereal yet liminal-sounding instrumental track that takes me to the depths of an abandoned mall, an empty park at midnight, or anywhere that seems outside of the bounds of time and space as we experience it.

Business School hails from San Francisco, California, and was originally formed in 2019 with Alexei Pacholuk at the helm. They have since metamorphosed into a much more collaborative effort. Nathan Henning writes and performs vocals on tracks like Swimmingly and Places, and Alexei’s dad even lends them his drum skills throughout the EP that dropped in September of 2020 called “Sunk In the Tide.”

There’s a music video for this song, linked below, created by Nathan Henning, and it’s such a perfect encapsulation of the seemingly endless 9-5 grind…so much that it nearly hurts. This writer loves instrumental music, and Business School has really piqued my interest, begging the need for me to do a comprehensive dive into their art.

If bedroom pop and chillwave had a lovechild, this track would be wrapped in the bassinet. From the bottom of my heart, I listened to this at least 25 times while writing, and I feel compelled to let you know that this is one of those life-changing songs, at least for me.

Canada is streaming now on Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube! The video is 100% worth watching, so get on it! Show Business School some love and ride the wave into chill town.
