“Today I got home to a letter from an old friend:” this is the opening line of Rapt’s enthralling new single, “Until the Light Takes Us.” Released on January 10 in anticipation of their upcoming album of the same title, “Until The Light Takes Us” gracefully tackles the difficult and often uncomfortable topic of mortality. Delicate guitars and dreamy keys create an atmosphere of peace as vocalist Jacob Ware reminisces about a friend who has since passed away. The beautiful instrumentals of this song bring a softness to the singer’s grief and comfort to the listener as they follow along with the lyrics. Though death is an unknown that all of mankind faces, Jacob sings that they know they will meet their friend there, wherever that may be. May we all have a friend waiting for us: “I don’t know where I’m going, but I know that I’ll meet him there.”
