Hailing from the Norwegian town of Fredrikstad, The Twirlies are a new indie trio.
The band—featuring Christoffer, Sara, and Sigurd—first connected during a silkscreen printing course, where a shared sense of creativity led to something much more unexpected.
Their band began not with music but with visual art. One of their course projects involved designing an album cover—long before they’d written a single song. Although the artwork eventually became a Christmas gift, it sparked the inspiration for the band to take shape.
It kind of all makes sense to me. The band’s music creates a lot of imagery in my head as I listen to ‘Think that I’m in love’. I am thinking about the sweet colours of summer sundown by the beach, surfers and hippies hanging out, dancing to gentle rock n roll music like this. I love how a softness runs through almost every element in their sound, from the rhythm section to the guitar parts and the subtle and drowsy vocals (including the lovely harmonies).
I get a very nostalgic ’60s feeling with a little bit of euphoria and a little bit of nostalgia. I actually put the song on repeat for a while, relaxed so much and even stood up and swayed a little bit!
