Get Up! Get moving! Enjoy your life! At least, that is the overarching message from Pink Slip’s newest single. Pink Slip is a 7-piece ska band out of Boston, Massachusetts. Their debut EP was released in 2023, but their newest single, “Sick and Tired”, is the first single on their upcoming debut LP, which they hope to release in early 2026, promising all new material.
Strong, femme-fronted vocals from Heather Mack lead this catchy, upbeat, horn-heavy song about being sick and tired of the near-monotonous onslaught of bad news. Drained and numbed to oblivion about the theft of opportunity, the growing destruction of things worth fighting for actually requires us to fight, to put down our phones, to come together, take action, build community, dance, and have fun. Become vibrant. The upstrokes throughout the song, along with the insane horn lines playing off one another in brass duels, beg you to put down your phone, get on your feet, and dance! While you are waiting for more information about the upcoming album, and if you live in New England, you should take their advice, put down your phone and go dance to the sound of their music at Punktoberfest in Lowell, Massachusetts, on 18 October, and then at Skalloween at the Rockwell on 1 November.
