Single: Oh Doom! – This Is Not Home

An absolute voyage of a song, This Is Not Home is the recent single from London/Hertfordshire-based post-rock quartet Oh Doom!, and it did not come to mess around.

Put your guard down at your peril because – despite what the first two and a three-quarter minutes might try to tell you – this is a bona fide beast of a track.

Somewhere amongst the sounds of Hope Of The States and A Silver Mount Zion, you’ll find Oh Doom! Guitars like chainsaws, drums like boulders and buzzing bass that will melt your face off come together in a clusterfuck of noise. This is all in stark contrast to the beautiful instrumentation that opens the track and that crops up in various guises throughout, and both are equally enjoyable for very different reasons.

Ending in a cacophonous call to arms over some rather heavenly backing vocals, you can see why this song is traditionally used as their set closer.

It is now our life’s mission to see this band live. We kid you not. Listen. To. This. Now.
