As I breathe out a sigh of relief, the end of the week is at my fingertips, and I feel myself drawn to listen to this new single from Mount Mural. Released in early June, just a few short days ago as I write this, Pattern Fades encapsulates me with its charm like a caterpillar in a cocoon of sound.
The instrumentation is next level, drawing me in with every expressive synth line, while the silken vocals add a layer that pulls me out of time and space. Pattern Fades grips me in its clutches with its cinematic ebbs and flows, filling me with both hope and hopelessness.
The guitars present in this track play so beautifully that it can bring you to tears. The world that Mount Mural was able to create feels both believable and tangible, bringing the collision of shoegaze and dream pop up a notch further than it sat before. If someone asked me to explain those genres with one song, this would be the direction I would point them toward.
Need an escape that fills you with that indescribable umph? Pattern Fades, a nearly 6-minute masterpiece, is streaming now on all platforms. Take a dive!
